Development of braking pad which can be forced down from undercarriage to runway; pad is made of synthetic rubber and effects savings of 1% of aircraft's landing weight by eliminating conventional metal heat sink; tire wear reduced as no brake torque is transmitted through wheels; improved braking provided under conditions of wet or icy runways.
