Tendencies in design of passenger cars; there were only a few departures from conventional design, among which are mentioned\ill\ Rumpler streamline car with swinging half axles and engine in rear; small car of Schwabische Huttenwerke, which has 2cylinder engine, opposed, front-end drive, and independent wheels mounted on coil springs; chassis and body are in one piece; Steyr car with independent wheels; many of smaller cars have cylinder blocks of light metal with separate sleeves of steel or cast iron; Hansa-Lloyd shows high-class 8-cylinder car with central lubrication; lightmetal pistons preponderate.
