Stability of vehicle can be influenced tremendously by propellant sloshing; influence of control frequency and control damping of vehicle, sloshing mass, sloshing frequency, and tank locations is investigated; for vehicle in which propellant of only one tank is free to oscillate, danger zone where baffles have to be applied to maintain stability is located between center of gravity and center of instantaneous rotation; for tandem arrangement of 2 and 3 containers in which propellant is free to oscillate, danger zone shifts with increasing distance between slosh masses toward rear of vehicle, indicating that most of booster tanks have to be provided with baffles.
