Paper presents some highlights of training programs of such projects as X-15 and Mercury, and role played by spacecraft and/or space-flight simulators; relationship of these trainers to future manned space-flight training programs is shown, in addition to other projects such as Dyna Soar and Self-Deploying Space Station; simulator has dual purpose which is to achieve better integration of man and machine and to perform research in human factors.
