Results of investigation based on ship motion trials carried out at sea on H M ships Vengence and St. Kitts (1949), Cygnet (1950 and 1951), and Cumberland (1951); empirical formula is presented for approximation to mean value of still water rolling period in deep or half loaded condition in absence of sea trial data for conventional warship designs; new method of obtaining damping coefficients.
