Current state of art of guard rail design and warranting criteria; report presents and discusses data and information concerning present warranting practices, prevailing conditions of off-road vehicle motions, and guard rail performance as determined from accident studies, structural and physical characteristics of various types of guard rails in current use, results of full-scale barrier tests, and research programs currently in progress; development of standardized test procedures; development and application of validated analytical techniques for studying and evaluating guard rail collision dynamics.
