Multi-phased program was established to evaluate acoustic and aerodynamic noise environment for spacecraft and to determine resultant structural vibration response; engine noise was evaluated with data obtained during static firing tests of booster engines at manufacturer's facility and at Marshall Space Flight Center, followed by measurements on early Saturn flights with boilerplate spacecraft; aerodynamic noise studies included wind tunnel tests of 0.055 scale model of spacecraft and boundary layer noise measurements on boilerplate spacecraft during development test flights.
