Concern is with earth-orbiting test flights in Apollo series preceding actual lunar landing mission; key phase in tests now under way at Manned Spacecraft Center is determination of how structure and system components of Apollo vehicle, as well as crew members and their support equipment, will respond to acoustic pressure vibrations generated during launch and acceleration through sub-, trans-, and supersonic boundaries; primary sources of spacecraft vibration, pressures at vehicle shoulder, design of shroud for reverberant and progressive wave testing of Apollo, and acoustic testing are considered.
