Direction of motion and rate of speed are sole data needed for determining position of moving object after certain period of time, but at present there are no absolutely precise instruments on airplane for accurate determination of these two factors; factors that constitute unsatisfactory features of navigating instruments available for aircraft are discussed and present methods of using various types of instrument and comments upon their practicability for oversea position finding.
