Important tools for air-traffic services are effective communications, accurate position and progress data for aircraft under control which may be provided by aircraft navigation system, and operationally significant meteorological data; nature and extent of improvements obtained by satellites, currently available satellite communication, navigation, and meteorology techniques applicable to aircraft service are reviewed; recommendations made for multi-purpose satellite to meet future needs of aviation community; possible application of satellites to transportation is indicated.
