System selected for military logistics airplane consists of four General Electric TF39-GE-1 turbofan engines, installed in short fan duct nacelles, which are pylon mounted beneath wings; propulsion installation includes pylon, nacelle, engine air induction and exhaust systems, thrust reverser, and various other subsystems and accessories; integration of these systems results in nacelle of long slender profile having diameter of 102.5 in. and length of 314.6 in.; description of structural features and various subsystems, including air bleed, engine starting, and fire protection systems; installation requirements and parameters to consider; high bypass ratio, short duct, and turbofan engine configuration; accessibility and maintenance features.
