Concept of aircraft synthesis and Computer Program SYNAC (SYNthesis of AirCraft) are examined; program involves determination of force characteristics, aircraft performance, and configuration control; variables are independent configuration size and shape variables, intermediate weight-, propulsion-, and aerodynamic-force characteristics variables, and dependent performance variables; SYNAC is organized in modules -- input, configuration control, geometry, weight, propulsion, aerodynamics, and performance; program yields accuracies comparable with conventional synthesis techniques.
