Various stopped and stowed rotor V/STOL transport aircraft designs are presented with characteristics and assumptions used in their conception; two of designs are discussed in terms of their component weights and drag assumptions employed; results of experimental investigations of rotor start-stop process in full-scale wind tunnel are discussed in relation to their effect on design of rotor and overall aircraft.
