Three concepts, general-utility spacecraft family, multiple-orbit/ payload launch, and orbital shuttle, evolved as results of system studies carried out by U S Air Force's Aerospace Research Support Program (ARSP); paper describes orbital shuttle concept and its potential effect on space mission planning; spacecraft is "mission-peculiar", orbital-launched, modular vehicle, capable of carrying one or several spacecraft thus allowing single launch vehicle to accomplish missions of several spacecraft with significantly different orbit requirements.
