In order to determine possible weight saving and general suitability of magnesium alloys for aircraft construction, Bureau of Aeronautics and Dow Chemical Co have cooperated in design, construction, and static test of wing that was directly comparable to aluminum alloy structure; paper describes design and test of structure and makes comparisons with aluminum.
