May 29 n 4507 p 454-456: Account of double collision at Abbotts Ripton on Great Northern Railway in 1876; fundamental change brought about directly as result of accident was in block working system. June 5 n 4508 p 465-467: Account of Armagh runaway collision on excursion train from Armagh to Warrenpoint, Great Northern Railway of Ireland, June 12 1889; train consisted of 15 coaches packed to repletion; runaway of 10 coaches and collision resulted in death of 78 and injury to about 250. June 12 n 4509 p 484-486: Account of collision at Hawes Junction on Christmas Eve 1910, and collision of Sept 2 1913, near Aisgill summit, between two south bound sleeping car expresses; these two accidents occurring within few miles of each other gave impetus to installation of track circuits and automatic train control.
