Design factors that enable higher outputs to be obtained from Larger bore two-stroke diesel engines, also considering costs, and comparative advantages of cross-scavenging and uniflow scavenging; problems arising because of differences among engine builders in specifying engine outputs are noted; information is given about Gotaverken 3-cyl experimental engine designed for maximum pressure of 80 kg/sq cm and about ship service experience with their 850-mm bore range; engine diagrams.
