Conclusion of economic comparison between electrification and dieselization, reached by Long-Term Planning Office of Japanese National Railways after series of studies, showed that if electrification of line is to be economically advantageous over dieselization, it must have fairly large traffic volume; calculation based on generalization, and various numerical values used in study are explained.
