Results of 3 yr of rocket soundings at Heiss Island (81N, 58E) are compared with rocket data from McMurdo Sound, Antarctica (78S), and with rocket results obtained by Air Weather Service at Thule, Greenland (77N); from Heiss Island data it was also possible to develop statistical relationship for estimating density at rocket altitudes from stratospheric data routinely generated by radiosondes; some preliminary findings are included.
