To measure friction for purpose of correlating brake test results, trailer is used on Proving Ground to measure friction force developed by braked wheels sliding on road surface; force is then converted into friction coefficient value; trailer construction, and braking and water controls; trailer also used by highway agencies to detect changes in road surfaces caused by polishing action of tire wear.
