Propulsion by restoration of boundary layer, i.e., restoration of removed boundary layer into wake of body with relative velocity equal but opposite to forward velocity of body; energy required for propulsion of solid may not be reduced by boundary layer, but boundary layer suction may have practical applications with respect to airplane stability at low speeds, etc. (see also Applied Mechanics Reviews v 2 n 1 Jan 1949 p 15-6)
