Design calls for vessels of highest class on light weight less than 50,000 tons, that have four-compartment subdivision, will pass through Panama Canal locks, have low-resistance machinery equipment developing 180,000 or 20,000 max. hp., top speed of 31 knots, and that have accommodations for total of 2800 passengers.
