Problem of landing in adverse weather and interrelated factors, grouped into following areas -- weather characteristics, ground facilities, airline operation, and airplane design and development; review of DC-8/SP-30 advanced automatic pilot development program as related to all weather landing, aimed at providing smooth flight path by use of automatic pilot; development of system for over-coming approach beam variations through use of barometric sink rate which provides smooth flight path to point of flare; additional work and improved instrument displays required.
