Configurations considered are -- variable sweep wing; fixed wing, tail aft, 4 nacelles mounted on wing; fixed wing, canard Delta, trailing edge swept back 10°, leading edge swept back 60°, titanium wing and fuselage; fixed wing, canard Delta, trailing edge 0 °, leading edge 65°, steel wing and titanium fuselage; aerothermoelastic effects of sweep angle, wing thickness, "lg" working stress, and materials are shown; general considerations, such as probability predictions of survival of major structural component, fatigue spectrum considerations and estimations of magnitude of creep from 30,000 hr SST spectrum.
