New castings for railroad freight cars developed at National Castings Co for "3C Gliding Sill" are described and illustrated; Sill is device designed to protect fragile lading in freight cars from end shocks received in handling of cars at switching points or in classification yards; castings range in size from 10 to 300 lb; of particular interest is striker casting which incorporates entire draft gear pocket; it weighs about 245 lb and is 11 1/2×12 3/8× 34 3/4 in. overall dimensions.
