New ballastable all purpose earth movers may be answer to increasing payload and versatility of construction equipment used by Armed Services; tests are conducted on airborne tracked and wheeled " Universal Engineer Tractors"; 13-ton UET tractor, built by International Harvester Co, can ballast itself with dirt to perform earthmoving operations such as bulldozing, scraping, grading, hauling, dumping and towing as fast as conventional units nearly twice its weight; machine also serves as transport for Combat Engineer squad, as combat vehicle, and supply transporter; other examples.
