Paper reviews flight control system requirements and various possible approaches to redundancy, each having its particular attractions and limitations; basic system concepts and typical applications of hydrologic redundant systems are described with emphasis on operate/fail-safe hydrologic system consisting of servovalve with dual tandem second stage power spool plus monitor channel driving dual tandem actuator; description of operating components; tabulation lists possible failures that proposed system can encounter indicating automatic action taken by system.
