Paper presents results of parametric design studies on application of laminar-flow-control; it is shown that optimum LFC airplane will have lower wing loading than conventional airplane designed for same purposes; comparing optimized high-payload turbulent and LFC configurations, range improvements on order of 20% to 25% can be achieved; configurations for long-range medium payload requirements show even greater range improvements.
