Results of brake characteristics and running resistance tests performed on Japanese National Railways in 1965 with S-1 train with 12 coupled cars; performance tests of anti-skid device; growth of cracks on disk surface was traced and studied with thin type disk; study of test results made it possible to improve train operation and brake design.
