Snow melting on toll plaza of Chicago Calumet Skyway accomplished by circulating heat transfer oil through pipe coils in pavement slab; pavement 22 lanes wide, has melting facilities extending 200 ft for southbound plaza, 154 ft for northbound; system covers 58,500 sq ft of pavement and is designed for snow melting load of 9,580,000 Btu per hr; service building located beneath pavement slab.
