Speed measuring sections, time cutouts, and dwarf signals to govern trains, installed by Elgin, Joliet and Eastern on several highway crossing protection projects in Chicago, which make it practicable to operate gates with exclusively automatic controls, and overcome local circumstances which otherwise might preclude use of gates or necessitate manual control.
