Nature has provided magnificent breakwaters, consisting of rocky cliffs rising to heights of from 40 to 70 ft., enclosing harbor 6 mi. in length and from 1 to 2 1/2 mi. in width at low water and 1 1/2 to 4 mi. at high water; position chosen for wharf is in completely sheltered part of harbor; there is ample room for dock facilities, transit sheds, grain elevators, railway lines, etc.
