Control is achieved by gimbaling four outer engines in cluster of eight H-1 engines on Saturn IB first stage and four outer engines in cluster of five F-1 engines on Saturn V first stage; factors which influenced selection of control system for Saturn vehicles are considered; description of system model illustrating forces and torques acting on vehicle and geometry employed in performing control studies; final system evaluation and simulation.
