Ultimate effectiveness of suspension will be dependent upon ability of computer simulation to accurately compute dynamic responses of vehicle as it traverses cross-country terrain profile; actual dynamic characteristics of vehicle and suspension are required, including their nonlinear and discontinuous characteristics which develop as vehicle traverses cross-country terrain profile; when development of mathematical model is carefully exercised, computer analysis of vehicle response will correlate within few percent of full-scale test values; technique provides designer with reliable method.
