Paper is intended as guide to present-day ATC (Air Traffic Control) procedures in Great Britain; there are two basic kinds of employee in Government ATC service -- Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) and Air Traffic Control Assistant (ATCA); each class is subdivided into grades related to nature and degree of responsibility of work performed which is described; map of controlled airspace over southern England showing airways and some of major reporting points is presented and operational procedures relating to take-off and ground movement control are described together with equipment installed at Heathrow airport; details of training for air traffic controllers at ATC school at Hurn, near Bournemouth.
