Paper is concerned with failure of engine components, during engine development, in civil and military aircraft operation and influence of such failures on design and material selection techniques; principal engine components such as compressor blades, turbine blades, compressor and turbine rotor disks, and engine main shafting, that is, dynamically loaded major components, are considered.
