Measurements were taken at speeds up to approximately 135 mph on 1/36th scale model of one-, two-, and three-car train corresponding to one-car length Reynolds number of 2.9 × 106; data was obtained on single car in leading, intermediate, and trailing position; four different nose shapes were considered, varying from flat nose to one which was well-rounded; full-scale drag coefficient for six-car train is estimated to be 0.00494 defined according to railway convention.
