New casting method by permanent mold made of carbon and silicon carbide was developed to refine casting process of rolling stock pieces of cast iron; rectangular molds were used in preliminary experiments and molds of brake block were made and tested; as result of repeated experiments, permanent mold containing SiC 40 to 60%, compressive strength being 300 to 350 kg/sq cm, is recommended as optimum.
