Fining of ship form is suggested as means of preventing capsizing even when ship is sinking; with reference to Andrea Doria, calculations are given for redesign with block coefficient of 0.50, instead of 0.58, and without longitudinal bulkheads, which would have prevented sinking after collision; with proportions not dissimilar to Clippers, and characteristics such that bilging improves stability, every passenger ship could have 10 compartments.
