Train propulsion tests were conducted to obtain data on adverse effects produced either in vehicles or in track by propulsion of 12-coach main line train at speeds up to 100 mph, and what is best method of remote control of Southern Region's diesel and electric locomotives over train line cables which must also be compatible with control of multiple-unit stock; design is completed on prototype six car trailer set and Type "3" diesel electric locomotive fully converted for push-pull operation embodying experience gained in tests; schematic diagram of experimental translator unit.
