Provision of semi-hump with special grade in train-pushing zone in flat yard is recommended as result of track grade study carried out to improve efficiency in train cut and make-up operation; suggested grades are called H type pre-grade and post grade; pre-grade, composed of catenary curve and supplementary grade in vertical track section, makes continuous kick-off cutting of train pushed by engine possible; postgrade was designed so that car or cut of cars would roll down from hump crest with rectangular speed curve instead of triangular one in conventional hump yard.
