Purpose of paper is to present theoretical methods and results for two relevant problems, to give, where possible, comparisons with experimental tests, to review basic experimental data required, and to discuss various theories of failure for double-base propellants; two extreme cases are considered, quasi-steady thermal problem encountered when case-bonded motors are cooled at slow rates, and problem of pressurization effects during ignition.
