For a series of double base rocket propellants and for polymethylmethacrylate the longitudinal and transverse sound wave velocities were measured at a frequency of 0.351 MHz in the temperature range of -40 to +60 C. The relations between these acoustic properties and mechanical properties were derived and the principal independent elastic constants calculated.
