Requirements considered to be of significance involve durability, traction, wear, handling, aesthetics, and size; durability testing of tire comprises high speed tests, highway service or fleet test, plunger test, designed to evaluate carcass and impact strength of tire, and dead durability test; traction tests relate to stopping, starting, and cornering; wear studies are made under different conditions of loading, speed, and on variety of road surfaces; tests carried out to determine handling characteristics, ride softness, and tire size are also described.
