Satellite attitude-control simulator, being developed for installation at NASA's Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif, will closely reproduce environmental conditions for orbital spacecraft, including motion, attitude, altitude, stellar light and Earth influences; simulator consists of Helmholtz coil, vacuum chamber, star simulator, Earth simulator, mounting platform, spherical bearing, gimbal assembly, inertia cones, air thrusters and Earth-simulator drive; description of 22-ft diam spherical vacuum chamber and platform with particular reference made to technique which introduces electrical energy and reaction-jet gas through table directly to equipment under test; other details.
