Account of full-scale tests on two 19,000-ton ore carriers, which formed part of research at University of Adelaide on ship vibrations; tail-shaft torque and thrust were measured using strain-gage techniques over range of operating conditions; torque and thrust waveforms were harmonically analyzed up to 24th component; applied hydrodynamic torque and thrust on propeller were computed, and harmonically analyzed; virtual inertia of propeller was calculated from free-vibration records and results compared with values estimated from available formulas.
