Some features in lines of recent large tankers and bulk carriers are noted; from survey of published particulars of tankers built in recent years, hypothetical family was developed ranging in size from 20,000 to 140,000 tons dw; ships range in length from 560 to 925 ft, and corresponding drafts are from 31 to 56 ft; large multibladed propellers, tandem screws and contra-rotating propellers for large drafts and power absorption are discussed.
