System of applying stabilizing impulses, developed by O. FLAMM, in Germany, for counteracting rolling and pitching; usual stabilizing tanks, for reasons given, must be large; smaller tanks can be used if counter-balancing by altered distribution of static weight be replaced by impulses applied to surrounding water from within vessel; reactions of these impulses constitute stabilizing forces on hull.
