Various automatic train operation tests are reviewed and related problems reported; problems discussed include coordination of control system with signal system, psychological reactions of passengers traveling by unmanned train, equipment necessary at stations to check that trains really stopped at platforms, and automatic speed control implying control of motorman or autopilot so that train does not run faster than actual signal indication permits.
