Polaris is solid fuel propellant two-stage missile fired underwater from submerged submarine; safety in Polaris Project at Cape Kennedy is discussed from initial planning stages of facility through handling and operational aspects of program; examples of safety problems are given and details of how safety is designed into circuit and how safety details are planned into operational checkout of missile.
